A notorious Warzone weapon is making a comeback in the Season 3 update, but it was significantly nerfed before being reintroduced.
This update is one of the most impactful in Warzone’s history, bringing back the highly anticipated Verdansk map. Along with it, several fan-favorite weapons from the original era, including the Kilo 141 and HDR, are returning.
Among the more controversial reintroductions is the Kali Sticks, a deadly melee weapon that became infamous during the MW 2019 era due to its high damage and exceptional mobility.
Many players worried their return could revive one of Warzone’s most infamous metas. However, the Kali Sticks have undergone a major nerf, making them much easier to deal with.
Kali Sticks Receive Significant Nerf Ahead of Season 3 Return
When the Season 3 patch notes were initially released, they indicated that the Kali Sticks would be a two-hit kill in Warzone. This instantly sparked memories of their previous dominance, where they were the top choice for a secondary weapon and a major source of frustration for many players.
However, the patch notes were soon revised to clarify that the Kali Sticks will actually require four hits to secure a kill instead of two. This effectively doubles their time-to-kill (TTK), significantly reducing their effectiveness once the update goes live.
This is the very same nerf that was previously applied to the Kali Sticks during their initial period of dominance. Originally, they could break an enemy’s armor with the first strike, while the second would finish them off. Combined with their mobility boosts, this made them an incredibly powerful secondary weapon.
To curb their dominance, the Kali Sticks were eventually nerfed to require four hits to kill instead of two, along with a reduction in lunge distance. This allowed players to still benefit from their mobility but ensured they were no longer outperforming SMGs and shotguns in close-quarters combat.
So, if you were hoping to relive this notorious Warzone meta in Season 3, you’re out of luck. However, the developers have confirmed that the Kali Sticks still boast an “extremely fast attack speed,” meaning they can remain effective in the right situations.
Players can unlock the Kali Sticks through the Return to Verdansk event, available until April 15, 2025.
