The Finals is a multiplayer First Person Shooter from the ex-Battlefield devs at Embark Studios. Today they have announced with a trailer that a closed beta will be happening. Not much details have come out since their last closed Alpha in October but this closed beta will be running from March 7th to March 21st.closed test in October.
Players can sign up for closed beta through The Finals Steam page. If selected you'll be notified through Steam if you get in closer to the start date. A new trailer has dropped with the announcement as well showing more snippets of the gameplay to give players a little taste of the destruction and chaos happening through the multiplayer action.
The Finals has been on players' radars due to the destruction that a lot of older Battlefield titles embarked on. Embark is saying that every building, decoration, and piece of furniture can crumble into bits while keeping all this synced across every player's client. This is done with some marvelous technology advancements where all calculations and physics are handled server side to keep the experience the same for all players in the ring. This has not been done before and will be the first time a team will showcase this sort of skills they have achieved.
What we know so far about The Finals is this game will be a 12 player team battle, 4 teams of 4 battling their way to the top. We can also see there will be different types of weapons that allow players to traverse the map in style like a grapple hook and a foam fun to block/build new paths. The game will also include customization and loadouts, but to what extent we are unsure.
The closed beta will feature two maps, including the skyscrapers high above the heart of downtown Seoul and old town Monaco on the banks of the French Riviera. A practice range will also be included with this release allowing players to try out different weapons and the destruction the game can provide.
