Modern Warfare and Warzone Patch 1.23 will go live June 29 at 11PM PT. The update will be approximately 22-36 GB for most users, but should minimally increase the overall digital footprint of the full version of Modern Warfare once it’s all finished installing and consolidating.
The biggest change of this patch is certainly the new 200-player Warzone mode. According to the patch notes, “Verdansk will now be able to hold up to 200 players in Battle Royale Quads. That means 50 Quads of Operators fighting each other and the encroaching circle collapse.”
Supply Run Contracts are also being introduced in this patch. “Upon activation, you and your squad (if applicable) will be directed to a nearby Buy Station. Reach it within the time limit to get a discount on Buy Station purchases.”
A Juggernaut Royale mode is also being added alongside a powerful and re-useable new scope called the Spotter Scope, which allows operators to scan the area around them and mark enemies without being spotted.
The Spotter Scope might just be the perfect thing to use alongside the new Rytec AMR sniper rifle. The .50 cal behemoth is a semi-automatic and anti-material beast that is sure to come in handy when you’re dropping in the new 200-player quads.
This patch isn’t all about Warzone though. There’s a new multiplayer mode and map as well. The fast-paced objective game mode, Team Defender, returns with patch 1.23. “Instead of both teams defending their respective flags, there is only one flag for a squad member to capture and hold onto. A squad earns a point for every second that one of their members holds onto this flag, which means defending the carrier is a must for victory.”
The new multiplayer Modern Warfare map is called Cheshire Park. “Located in urban London, England, Cheshire Park is a picturesque garden and conservatory where Operators will battle from door to door or through the central flora-filled area.”
