Treyarch has crafted some of the most memorable maps in Call of Duty history, with the Black Ops series offering a treasure trove of unforgettable experiences. As Black Ops 6 gears up to introduce 16 new original maps, it's also the perfect opportunity to remaster some classic favorites that evoke a sense of nostalgia among players.
It's no surprise that iconic maps like Nuketown, Raid, Standoff, and Firing Range are expected to make a return in Black Ops 6, given their frequent reappearances in the series. However, there are several other standout maps that haven't been remastered yet and deserve to be brought back.
From the original Black Ops to some hidden gems from BO3 and BO4, here are six maps that should be remastered for Black Ops 6.
Meltdown (Black Ops 2)
Meltdown from Black Ops 2 is often overlooked, perhaps due to being surrounded by some of the best maps in both Call of Duty and FPS history. Despite this, it hosted many iconic moments and would undoubtedly shine in today’s gaming landscape. If Treyarch can work their magic on the new maps, Meltdown's unique charm could stand out even more.
Fringe (Black Ops 3)
Regarded as one of the best maps in the highly acclaimed Black Ops 3, Fringe features a clear 3-lane system with enough variety to keep each game feeling fresh. Designed originally with advanced movement in mind, some adjustments would be needed to fit a boots-on-the-ground playstyle, but its fast-paced, engaging gameplay would still be a hit with fans.
Hacienda (Black Ops 4)
Often overlooked due to its position between the jetpack era and the launch of MW2019 and Warzone, Black Ops 4 nonetheless featured some great maps, including Hacienda. With its gameplay centered around a central courtyard and easy navigation, Hacienda offered fun and strategic play in various modes, making it a strong candidate for remastering.
Launch (Black Ops 1)
Dating back to 2010, Black Ops 1 introduced many iconic maps, including Launch. This map was known for its versatility and ability to cater to different playstyles, providing fun and excitement in public matches. Its return would be a nostalgic trip for many fans who enjoyed its dynamic gameplay.
Cargo (Black Ops 2)
Despite its popularity in Black Ops 2, Cargo has never been remastered. Known for its addictive combat in the central areas and strategic edge play, Cargo would be a fantastic addition to Black Ops 6. Its high-ground elements would offer an interesting playground for the new omnimovement system, making it a compelling choice for a remaster.
Evac (Black Ops 3)
Evac, another standout from Black Ops 3, would require some tweaks to fit a boots-on-the-ground game. Nevertheless, its well-designed routes and fast-paced gameplay made it a favorite, especially in modes like Uplink. With adjustments, it could excel in modern modes like Hardpoint and Domination in Black Ops 6.
Of course, this list is not exhaustive. Many other beloved Treyarch maps, such as Hanoi, Plaza, Carrier, Arsenal, and Breach, hold special places in the hearts of long-time COD players. However, these six maps offer a diverse range of gameplay experiences that could satisfy a broad spectrum of the player base, minimizing disappointment and maximizing enjoyment.
