Warzone player count increase.

Raven Software has exciting news for fans of larger lobbies, reminiscent of Warzone’s early days.

When Warzone launched in 2019, lobbies could hold up to 150 players, with limited-time modes even pushing that number to 200. However, in 2023, the developers made a controversial decision to reduce Al Mazrah’s player count from 150 to 100, sparking backlash from the community.

Despite the criticism, the devs defended the change, stating it would “prevent matches from feeling too chaotic, improve matchmaking times, speed up pre-game lobbies, and enhance overall match quality.”

By 2024, Raven Software raised the player count to 120—a step in the right direction, though some fans were disappointed it wasn’t 150. After two years of waiting, their patience is finally paying off.

Warzone Tests 150-Player Lobbies on Urzikstan

Raven Software announced: “In preparation for future updates, we will begin intermittently testing 150 players across standard Battle Royale playlists. We will closely monitor player feedback, performance, and overall impact on match flow over the coming weeks.”

This adjustment does not affect Ranked Play, and since the increased lobby size will only be available at certain times, the exact testing schedule remains unclear.

The community welcomed the news with enthusiasm.

“This is huge,” said professional Warzone player HusKerrs. “Let public unranked playlists be 150 players (and maybe even ranked), but keep WSOW and all customs tournaments at 120 players. (Also, bring back buyback modes and 200-player quads!)”
