Call of Duty has launched its new Terminator event in Black Ops 6 and Warzone, but the response from players has been less than enthusiastic. Running until February 20, the event offers new rewards, including a fresh weapon blueprint, double XP tokens, a full-auto weapon mod for the AEK-973, and more. However, the lack of variety in the event and the high cost of in-game bundles have led to widespread disappointment among the community.
This follows the recent collaboration between Activision and Netflix, which introduced a Squid Game-themed event in Call of Duty. This event added several new modes across Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone, along with a controversial event pass that required players to spend 1,100 COD Points to unlock premium cosmetics like the Front Man operator skin. Though a free version of the pass was available, the addition of more microtransactions didn’t sit well with many fans.
Call of Duty Players Criticize Terminator Event as a "Big Miss"
The new Terminator event, which started on February 6, has been met with similar frustration. On the Black Ops 6 subreddit, players have been vocal about their dissatisfaction, labeling the event as "boring" and a "big miss." One user, Broadspeed1, even compared it to "watching paint dry," while Stealthnice expressed disappointment that the Terminator operator skins could only be bought in the store, rather than unlocked through the event pass like in the Squid Game event. While there are free rewards, such as a new weapon blueprint and calling cards, these have been dismissed as "mid-tier" by several players.
The event's rewards are getting lackluster reviews across the board. User Craig536 found the weapon blueprint "okay," but felt the rest of the cosmetics were unremarkable. Another user, ---OZ--, went even further, calling the rewards "absolute garbage" and pointing out that even the double XP tokens included were only for 30 minutes, not an hour as many expected.
Expensive Terminator Operator Bundle Draws More Criticism
But it’s not just the event’s rewards that are causing frustration—many players are upset by the high price of the new Terminator operator bundle. At 3,000 COD Points, it’s one of the priciest bundles available, with most costing between 2,000 and 2,800. If recent leaks are to be believed, an even more expensive bundle could soon be available. Data miners have found references to a new operator skin set to arrive at a staggering 3,300 COD Points, though it has yet to appear in the store.
