Toronto Ultra Winners of Major 3

The Toronto Ultra has claimed its second major championship in the Call of Duty League era, defeating OpTic Texas 4-2 in a thrilling grand final on Sunday. The Canadian team showed talent, composure and leadership throughout the tournament, overcoming some of the toughest opponents in the league.

The Major 3 was held at Arlington, Texas, where OpTic had the advantage of playing in front of a passionate home crowd. OpTic had an impressive run in the lower bracket, winning nine consecutive Hardpoint matches and eliminating teams like Dallas Empire, Atlanta FaZe and Minnesota Rokkr.

However, Toronto Ultra proved to be too strong for OpTic in the final showdown. Toronto ended OpTic’s Hardpoint streak with a dominant win on Hotel Hardpoint, and then took control of the series with victories on Express Search and Destroy and Raid Control3. OpTic fought back with a close win on Moscow Hardpoint3, but Toronto sealed the deal with a clutch win on Miami Search and Destroy.

Toronto Ultra’s star player Cameron “Cammy” McKilligan was named MVP of the Major 3 after putting up incredible numbers throughout the event. He was supported by his teammates Tobias “CleanX” Juul Jønsson, Jamie “Insight” Craven and Ben “Bance” Bance, who all played their roles perfectly.

Toronto Ultra earned $200,000 for winning the Major 3, as well as 75 CDL points that boosted them to third place in the overall standings. OpTic Texas earned $120,000 and 60 CDL points for finishing second.

With this event it also brought Twitches last concernant most viewerships on CDL’s Twitch channel by surpassing 330,000 viewers. This was previously held by the 2020 finals for almost 3 years.

The next stage of the Call of Duty League will begin on March 18th with Stage Four group play. The Major Four will take place from April 7th to April 11th at an undisclosed location.
