Verdansk Remake Launches Without Water?

Swimming has been one of the most debated mechanics in Warzone since its introduction in Warzone 2 in 2022, but leaks suggest it won’t be a concern on the return of Verdansk.

When Activision first introduced swimming in Modern Warfare 2 in 2022, the developers defended the feature, claiming it was “difficult to create a Warzone map where you jump into the water and constantly die.” However, they didn’t anticipate how much of a nuisance it would become. While Al Mazrah featured some bodies of water, frustrations escalated when Ashika Island launched. The Resurgence map, set on an island, had several waterways and often forced players into underwater combat.

The biggest issue arose when the final circle ended in the water, where only pistols could be fired underwater. In 2023, Raven Software addressed this by introducing a dedicated pistol slot for everyone, but water-related problems persisted, particularly on Urzikstan, prompting players to demand its removal.

Verdansk remake reportedly won’t include water
After months of speculation, Activision confirmed that Verdansk, Warzone’s original map, will be making a long-awaited return in Season 3, starting April 3. Leaks have indicated that the map will largely remain unchanged, aside from a few minor updates.

Some players were concerned about swimming becoming an issue for Verdansk, especially since it wasn’t part of the original version. However, Call of Duty leakers have reassured fans, confirming there will be no water on the Verdansk map.

That said, this doesn’t rule out the possibility of water being added in the future. Leakers also revealed that “Verdansk map updates (new and returning) are planned throughout BO6 seasons and beyond, potentially to keep things fresh.” The map won’t stay exactly as it was in March 2020 forever.
