Black Ops 6 Removing Looping Killstreaks

Treyarch has announced that looping Scorestreaks will not be featured in Black Ops 6, disappointing fans who appreciated this element in earlier Call of Duty games.

In Modern Warfare 3's Season 4, which began on May 29, Killstreaks and Scorestreaks were altered to allow looping. This change enabled players to earn multiple streaks within a single life.

Some players welcomed this modifier as it rewarded them for extended survival and accumulating long streaks. However, the development team behind Black Ops 6 held a different stance. Treyarch's associate director of design, Matt Scronce, provided an explanation for the absence of looping streaks.

“Currently, Scorestreaks do not loop,” Scronce stated. “Our objective is to fairly reward players within a single life with either high-end or low-end rewards, based on their selection. We want to minimize Scorestreak spam, which is something I personally dislike, and I know many players feel the same.”

This decision has faced criticism from the Call of Duty community, who argue that the system does not reward players fairly.

Notable CoD leaker TheGhostOfHope commented, “The number of players who can actually loop their streaks in a single life is probably very small. This was a key reason why BO2 score streaks were so well-received.”

Other community members echoed this sentiment, criticizing the decision. “Players skilled enough to survive that long and keep getting kills should be able to continue earning their streaks. Let’s stop penalizing good players.”

While Treyarch has not completely dismissed the possibility of adding looping streaks in the future, Scronce mentioned, “For now, we're leaning towards reducing score streak spam, but we will gather feedback during the beta and make adjustments as needed.”

Players will have the opportunity to test the new features and provide their feedback when the beta launches on August 30 for those who pre-ordered the game, and on September 6 for the open beta.
