Bloomberg reports that the current plan for CoD 2023 is a new standalone title with Modern Warfare 2 content. Tom Henderson reported Call of Duty 2023 would be a complete game instead of premium DLC as previously planned. CharlieINTEL also has confirmed the leaks saying this title is moving from a premium DLC to a full release standalone game. Henderson added that the game would be connected to the Modern Warfare series and is being developed by Sledgehammer Games.

Insiders say the game is being developed in a short span of time similar to their previous title like Call of Duty Vanguard, but Activision has high hopes this time around with support from Treyarch and Infinity Ward to help complete the title on time. Bloomberg elaborated that the current plan is for maps and modes to carry over from Modern Warfare 2, but plans may change before fall, but also added they believe it may even just be Modern Warfare 3, but this is all just speculation.
